I look in the mirror
and what do I see?
There is my Dad
looking back at me.

Where is the young cowboy
that I used to see;
Now just an old codger
who the hell is he?

And I remember back
to the life that I've had;
some memories are so good
and some are so bad.

There has been joy and laughter;
there's been heartache and tears.
Where have they all gone,
all those wonderful years?

Like a west Texas whirlwind,
they flew by so fast.
It's getting hard to tell
this year from the last.

In my mind, I'm still young,
can still ride with the best.
But my body says, hold on,
take a nap, you need rest.

I think of my old friends,
so many are gone.
Taken before their time,
it all seems so wrong.

I can remember every good horse
that ever came my way,
but people's names and faces
I can't seem to say.

I think of the old times
and for them, I yearn;
just to turn back the clock
even for half a turn.

But, the good old days are gone
and they ain't coming back;
I'm over the hill
and I know that's a fact.

So, when I look in the mirror
and I see that old man;
I say, "Hello there handsome,
